RFID Tag Types Available

We offer passive UHF (RAIN), proximity, battery-assisted passive (BAP) RFID tags and active RFID tags, also known as real-time location system (RTLS) tags.

RAIN tags are low-cost battery-free tags that are ideally suited for the supply chain but can be used in a wide variety of applications. They can be read from up to 30 feet away and readers can read hundreds of tags per second.

Proximity tags provide secure communications and are designed for 1:1 reading. The readers are extremely low cost and are often embedded in everyday devices.

BAP RFID tags are passive tags with an embedded battery which waits for a signal from an RFID reader before it responds. Once the signal is received, the battery turns on and powers the integrated circuit which is modulated with the tag's relevant information. The tag then returns a signal to the RFID reader.

RTLS RFID tags are used to automatically identify and track the location of objects or people in real-time, usually within a building or other contained area. These tags do not need a signal from the RFID reader to turn on, because they are always on and occasionally send the required tag information to the reader.
